Greetings from CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH).
India Research Management Initiative (IRMI) by DBT Wellcome Trust India Alliance aims to develop unique research management solutions for addressing institutional requirements that have an impact on the research ecosystem across the country.Mr Manuj Tripathi, Principal Scientist at CSIR-IMTECH has been recently conferred with the IRMI Research Management Grant for the year 2024.
You may be already aware that IITs, National Laboratories and Autonomous bodies engaged in conducting research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine aimed at promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are eligible for receipt of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from the Corporates/Industries. This has been made possible under Section 467, Schedule VII of Companies Act, 2013 after the amendment dated 11th October 2019 vide Gazette Notification Number G.S.R 776(E) was notified. However, more than four years after the amendment, not much headway has been made in receipt of CSR funds in research institutes from the corporates.
Researchers need to know more about the nuances of CSR, its legal and regulatory facets, learn from the best practices across organizations and approach industry with the right kind of projects at the right time. The project funded under IRMI
"Advancing R&D through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" led by Manuj Tripathi, Principal Scientist at CSIR-IMTECH proposes to create a roadmap for mobilization of CSR funds in the R&D ecosystem of India. It proposes to have industry experts, CSR professionals, legal & taxation experts and fund raising professionals deliver CSR centred knowledge series webinars. Further, the project aims to bring CSR nodal from different academic research institutes at one platform to connect, network and learn from each other’s best practices.
